ČSOB Winter Series 2023/2024
The ČSOB Winter Series will consist of 4 cross-country events in the months of December 2023, January, February, and March 2024. The ČSOB Winter Series will once again have a thematic focus, so you have something to look forward to. The events will consist of a combination of classic cross-country races and virtual races.
We continue with the virtual format of races, where we want to accommodate all of you who enjoy this format, helping you prepare for the spring ČSOB Bratislava Marathon, but at the same time, you may not be able to attend every race in Bratislava or spend a competitive weekend on vacation or skiing.
This combination will allow everyone to participate across Slovakia and possibly from abroad as well. As a reward for participating in each part of the ČSOB Winter Series (regardless of whether they are virtual or traditional, or a combination), participants will receive a medal. Medals will be awarded for completing each of the races in person at the classic events, while for those who run virtually, the medals will typically be sent by mail within 2 weeks after the event.
The main goal of the ČSOB Winter Series is for you to experience the competitive atmosphere of races even in the "transitional" period, compare your performance, have a great time, and prepare for the spring running celebration. The ČSOB Winter Series will again be designed in an entertaining way this year, and you can look forward to several special competitions and activities associated with each race.
The virtual format of the races is primarily designed for runners who cannot participate in the traditional format at that time. The virtual format will be limited to a smaller number of participants than the classic format of races. The participant limit for virtual races is 500.
Please pay attention when filling out your address, as it is possible that race bibs, or even medals, will be sent to you by mail so that we have correct addresses for delivering items.
It will be possible to participate in virtual races over several days (Thursday to Sunday), while classic races will have a fixed time and place for the start (Saturday).
Results will be separately generated for classic races and separately for virtual races.
After the conclusion of the ČSOB Winter Series 2023/2024, an informational ranking will be compiled based on the sum of times achieved in virtual races (4 events) and the sum of times achieved in classic races (4 events). It is assumed that the runner will always run the same distance and choose the same form of competition 4 times.

SPIRIT insurance from ČSOB insurance company
Insurance: All participants are required to have individual health insurance (standard general health insurance covered by any insurance company !!!) + all participants have SPIRIT insurance covered by the organizer as part of the registration fee. The organizer does not take responsibility for property damage or health-related issues related to travel, stay, and participation of runners in the event. Each participant starts at their own risk and is responsible for their health condition when starting and participating in the event.
Before the start, we recommend that runners undergo a medical examination. Each participant is required to check the listed health insurance at the presentation (this also applies when picking up the race number for another participant). Foreign participants must present a photocopy of their health insurance card for this event. Without presenting this confirmation, the participant will not receive the race number, even if the registration fee has been paid.
Time measurement: Time measurement is provided by the company VOS-TPK using chips. The chip is located on the back of the race number. The participant will receive the race number with the chip at the presentation when picking up the race number. Race numbers and chips are not returned.
Results: Result service is provided by the company VOS-TPK. The results will be published by the organizer after the event on sportsofttiming.sk and subsequently on bratislavamarathon.sk.
Rules: The race is conducted according to the rules of WA athletic competitions and the provisions of these regulations. A runner may leave the course with permission and under the supervision of a referee on the condition that they do not shorten the race distance. A runner who accepts refreshments outside the refreshment station risks disqualification. A runner must immediately withdraw from the race at the request of the chief medical officer of the event. Any accompanying (including cycling escort) or assistance to the runner during the race by other individuals, except for necessary medical intervention by a physician designated by the event's organizational authority, is considered unauthorized assistance.
Using headphones during the race is prohibited, and the participant faces disqualification. This is dangerous, especially considering the safety of runners and spectators, potential organizational instructions, interventions, and instructions from organizers on the course during the race, the need to react to the movement of accompanying vehicles, motorcycles, and bicycles of the organizer, police, medical, and rescue services, and last but not least, it detracts from the atmosphere created by runners, spectators, and the accompanying program prepared for you.
Protests: Protests must be orally submitted to the head referee no later than 30 minutes after the publication of the results. An appeal against the decision of the head referee, accompanied by a deposit of €10, must be submitted to the jury in writing within 30 minutes of the official announcement of the decision of the head referee.
Material prizes:
The first three women and the first three men in each age category of individual races will receive material prizes at each of the races. The overall winners of the classic races in the men's and women's categories (3 men and 3 women) evaluated after the sum of all four times (5 and 10 km) will receive the "ČSOB Winter Series" Trophies, with prizes also awarded to the first three male and female participants in each age category. The announcement of the winners will take place during the Saturday afternoon program of the ČSOB Bratislava Marathon 2024 (April 6, 2024).
Information: All information about the races will be continuously published on bratislavamarathon.sk

General provisions:
The organizer BE COOL, s.r.o. reserves the right to adjust and specify some of the data stated in these regulations, especially taking into account force majeure circumstances. Likewise, it reserves the right to end the registration of participants regarding the number of runners at the event, or to allow a larger number of runners to start the event. The organizer BE COOL, s.r.o. also reserves the right to cancel or interrupt the event or any of its disciplines in case of serious danger, especially war, adverse weather conditions, terrorist threats, or other attacks endangering the safety of the participants of the event, or due to other unforeseeable force majeure events and circumstances, such as orders and measures of the state, state and local authorities and institutions, especially in connection with the valid COVID - automaton.
In such a case, the runner does not have the right to a refund of the registration fee, or its part, as the organizer has already incurred costs for preparing the event at the time before the actual interruption/cancellation of the event. However, after considering all circumstances and quantifying the costs associated with preparing the event, the organizer may compensate the runner for part of the registration fee.
The information provided in these regulations was created on September 29, 2023, based on the evaluation of the current epidemiological situation and the expected development in the organization of mass events in the following weeks and months, as well as based on the experiences gained by the organizer during the previous period during the pandemic in organizing sports and cultural events.
The organizer reserves the right to adjust some participant limits and other participation conditions of the event, or to specify them even more (e.g., proving vaccination status or negative test, etc.) and this also "ad hoc" depending on the current epidemiological situation in Slovakia, as it will be evaluated in connection with the event date and as the health protection rules for people (participants and spectators) will be set by the relevant authorities at that time.
If, based on the above measures and conditions of participation in the event, the participant with paid registration fee is prevented from participating in the event, the organizer guarantees a full refund of the paid registration fee, or providing the opportunity to transfer the registration fee free of charge to one of the next editions of the event or to another event organized by the Bratislava Marathon team.
We look forward to seeing you !!!
